ISLA NUBLAR — Operators of a soon-to-open wildlife park confirmed Friday that several enclosures were experiencing "temporary access irregularities," hours after a tropical storm knocked out power to the remote island facility.

"Our animals are exactly where our animals should be, give or take," said park founder John Hammond, who described the attraction's headline exhibits only as having "spared no expense." A visiting mathematician declined to share that confidence, calling the venture "a disaster that simply hasn't read the room yet."

Staff stressed that the park's signature attractions remained behind "the very best fences money can lease." The two children touring the grounds could not be reached for comment.

At press time, a lawyer who had stepped away to find the nearest restroom was being listed as unaccounted for, prompting officials to revise the day's guest count slightly downward.

Genuinely the most peaceful getaway we've ever booked. No traffic, no neighbours, no noise — we've taken to signing instead of speaking and honestly prefer it. One star off for the local wildlife, which is extremely sensitive to sound. Pack soft shoes and do NOT bring anything that beeps.

Beautiful farmhouse, beautiful silence, absolutely lethal acoustics. Stepped on a single nail one time and nearly brought the whole holiday down around us. The safety briefing is just a finger to the lips. There is something out in the corn and it does not grade on a curve.

Quiet is underrated and the sunsets are unreal, I'll give them that. But "immersive sound-free experience" isn't a gimmick, it's a survival requirement, and no one warns you about the flooded basement. Funny enough, the right hearing aid helps far more than you'd expect.

Booked a quick work trip and somehow checked into this "all-inclusive" island for FOUR YEARS. No staff, no check-out desk, and the only other guest is a volleyball. On the plus side, I finally mastered fire and the snorkelling is world-class. Avoid unless you enjoy long, one-sided conversations.

Being fair: the location is stunning and clearly transformative for the right traveller — my partner came home a wiser, quieter man. At first the city was loud and cold, but a kind family took him in — even when he flooded the bathroom and rather misunderstood how toothbrushes work. A not-very-nice lady tried to cause some trouble, but the little bear's politeness (and a great deal of marmalade) won the day.

And so he learned that home isn't a place you're from — it's the people who keep your chair warm. Off to sleep now, with a marmalade sandwich saved for the morning. Goodnight.
